LOCATION: Rockwood, Michigan
DIRECTIONS: From 1-75 south of Detroit take exit #27
(Huron River Drive). Turn left on Huron River Drive and go approximately 2 miles
to W Jefferson. Turn right on Jefferson (also known as Dixie Highway and U.S. Turnpike)
and drive 2.5 miles to Sigler Road. Turn left Sigler Road and drive 0.25 mile to
the parking lot.
HOURS: Open all year but birding is not recommended from
September 15 through December 1 when much of the area is heavily hunted.
BEST TIMES: From early spring through May for waterfowl,
and from late June through September for shorebirds.
BIRDING HIGHLIGHTS: Best site in Michigan and one of the best
in the Midwest for shorebirds. Great waterfowl concentrations in early spring and
fall. Good year-round birding.
