About the Light:
|
|
This unique light was constructed of boiler plate cast-iron
and planted on the breakwall. The Jules Verne shape is reminiscent of the era in
which it was constructed and gives the impression that someone may be placed inside
and lowered to 20,000 leagues under the sea. In 1985, the light was deactivated and
later moved to its present location as part of the Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse
and Veterans park museum complex. |
